Approximately
2,000 ha of farming land in the Municipality of Novaci, being part of the wider
agricultural region Pelagonija, at present is not covered by a central
irrigation system. More precisely, the farming land within the Municipality is
neither connected to the nearby irrigation system Strezevo which covers roughly
20,000 ha of arable land in Pelagonija, nor does it include its own irrigation
scheme.
PointPro Consulting has been assigned by the Municipality of Novaci and
the USAID-funded Small Business Expansion Project (SBEP) to develop a Feasibility
Study for establishment of a central irrigation system in the Municipality of
Novaci. Purpose of the Study is to: (1) determine the final layout of the new
irrigation system, including selection of a preferred water supply (intake)
alternative; (2) define an implementing institutional model and project
financing and implementation strategy on behalf of the project sponsor; and (3)
serve as a basic decision-making and project communication tool.
