Client: USAID's Macedonia Competitiveness Project (USAID/MCP)
PointPro consulting is directly involved in the first i.e. pilot phase of the Financial Platform project of USAID/MCP.
PointPro Consulting has worked closesly with several companies enabling accesss to finance with a goal to systematicaly identify access to finance issues, bottleneks and sustainable solutions for corporate financing, while also summarizing the evolving opportunities for the financial services demand and supply (businesses and banks/financial institutions).
The USAID/MCP is being implemented the Financial Platform with the following goals:
- Accelerate the business and project finance in Macedonia by identifying and addressing current market constraints and imperfections,
- Demonstrate how to prevail over those barriers throughout a targeted work on a relevant project pipeline and matching it against the sources of finance available both on domestic and international markets.
- Disseminate the identified issues, best practices and lessons to the broader business audience, financial providers and finance facilitators in order to substantially support the sustainable access to finance in Macedonia.

Period: January 2008 – ongoing
The PointPro Consulting team has been involved in several project
assessments providing services such as: Environmental Due Diligence
(EDD) and Pollution Prevention Assessment (PPA) for three wineries –
Fonko, Kartal and Popova Kula, as well as assessments for business
expansion projects for "Vilamet", Kriva Palanka and "Popova Kula" Winery, Demir
Kapija for grant contribution by AgBiz in the project proposals.
AgBiz increases economic growth in Macedonia through expanded and environmentally sustainable production and sales of value-added agricultural products. The program is preparing Macedonia for accession to the European Union by enabling local producers and processors to compete regionally and globally. It is accomplishing this task by educating the producers about new markets, facilitating market linkages and value-added exports, and improving management and operations practices. The program promotes greater linkages in the following ways:

potential of opportunity areas for the
USAID's Competitiveness Project in Macedonia, implemented by Carana Corporation. The research and analysis of the Macedonian sectors were used as background material for the Strategy Planning
Roundtable of The Competitiveness Project, while the assignment included

Assessment of Macedonian industry potential to quantify necessary interventions and investments in order to satisfy existing or potential demand, achieve measurable growth in FDI, industry-wide revenues, value accretion, and employment generation;

Key participation in the preparation of the Assessment of the Recycling
Industry in Macedonia for the IFC managed PEP-SE (Private Enterprise
Partnership for Southeast Europe) Program. The study has analyzed:
recycled materials, volumes, trends, markets and operating practices of
Macedonia collectors and processors of scrap materials. Opportunities
for growth, and internal practices and systems enhancement were
identified in the study as well.

Preparation of a targeted feasibility study for the potential and
financial/economic viability of a likely investment in a lead battery
recycling investment project in Macedonia. The study examines the lead
battery scrap generation potential in Macedonia, technology options,
market analysis, and a comprehensive financial analysis with a purpose
to demonstrate to the ZMSS membership the return on the investment, and
major risks associated with the project implementation.
