PointPro Consulting is engaged for development of pre-feasibility assessment of alternatives for establishment of integrated Solid Waste Management Systems in the Strumica-Radovis and Polog Regions.

The main goals and objectives of the pre-feasibility assessment are: 

  • Assessment of the current practices and problems with solid waste management (SWM) in the Strumica-Radovis and Polog region in the country,

  • Identification and evaluation, (at a pre-feasibility level), of the relevance and implementability of practical solutions for setting-up of Integrated Solid Waste Management Systems (ISWMS) in both regions,

  • Definition of strategies and business models for ISWM implementation for both regions separately.



 
Assessment of the potential for economic development projects in North Kosovo Print E-mail

PointPro Consulting provided the core consulting expertise in assessment of the potential for economic development in North Kosovo.

The assessment involved an extensive feasibility study to identify and elaborate potential economic development activities in North Kosovo (consisting of four municipalities: Leposavic, Zubin Potok, Zvecan and Mitrovica (North). The assessment encompass outlines for potential project proposals.

PointPro Consulting team conducted a two-week field visit in North Kosovo in order to identify opportunities for support of the economic development in the municipalities of Leposavic, Zubin Potok, Zvecan and Mitrovica (Northern).

 
Cross-Border Cooperation through Environmental Planning and Investment Print E-mail

Period: May, 2005 – ongoing

The overall objective of the referenced project is to improve contacts and cooperation across borders and at the same time to address the critical need for environmental investment in the South East Europe (SEE) region. The project has identified three priority environmental problems in the region that are cross-border in cause and impact – Mali Zvornik, Serbia/Zvornik, BiH; Debar, Macedonia/Peskopia, Albania; and Bileca, BiH/Niksic, Montenegro – and has worked with these communities on development and preparation of necessary environmental investments through a participatory approach.

PointPro consultants provided expertise in all aspects of environmental investment packaging, including:
(1) Participation in the design of project components and methodology for identification and preparation of four environmental infrastructure projects;
(2) Design and delivery of training workshops for environmental municipal investments identification;
(3) Leading role in selection, training, professional support, quality control and supervision of local experts during development of feasibility studies for identified investments, according to international standards;
(4) Leading role in preparation of Project Summary Documents and Short-term Investment Plans for the environmental investments aimed to promote and attract finance;
(5) Provision of support to municipalities in approaching and negotiating with IFIs, donor agencies and commercial banks.

 
Feasibility Study for Small-scale Wastewater Treatment Facility in the Village of Nakolec, Resen, Macedonia Print E-mail

Clients: (1) UNDP CO Macedonia: Integrated Ecosystem Management in the Prespa Lakes Basin of Albania, Macedonia and Greece project; (2) Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning, Macedonia.
Period: July – September, 2007

Preparation of a comprehensive feasibility analysis that enables: (1) development, evaluation and design of a wastewater treatment facility for the Nakolec village, based on identification and comparative analysis of several alternative treatment technologies against multiple criteria; and (2) defining an implementing institutional model and project implementation strategy. The study looks closer into the possibility of using alternative (close-to-nature) wastewater treatment technologies, and as well into the possibility for replication of the selected technology at other sites in the Prespa region and elsewhere throughout the country.

 
Pre-feasibility Analysis for Infrastructure Development in the Mavrovo Region, Macedonia Print E-mail

Military Base-Construction Land Development Policy Initiative Print E-mail

Period: December, 2006 – March, 2007

Overall, the work carried out by PointPro Consulting for the DP included preparation of economic feasibility studies for both Debar and Kumanovo municipalities for adequate use of the divested military base assets for developing local economies. The studies will serve as case illustrations and justification for the concurrent lobbying activity with the Macedonia Central Government, i.e. policy change in land and real estate management within the ongoing decentralization process in Macedonia.

 
Assessment of the Potential and Identification of Alternatives for Utilization of Divested Army Barracks Complex for Local Economic Development in Prilep Print E-mail

PointPro Consulting provided the core consulting expertise in development of the strategy and economic development scenarios for using the Prilep military base assets for LED purpose.

The task has encompassed the following activities:

  • Preparation of inventory database for the military base real estate and infrastructure property, together with the needed infrastructure development and capital budget
  • Calculation of fixed and variable operational costs for managing the new LED zone
  • Development of the management model and implementation plan for short and medium term

Development of basic and full development scenarios for LED together with LED zones definition, finance strategy and program design. Spreadsheet tool was designed in order to support the major findings and conclusions

 
Golema Reka River Restoration Project in Prespa Region Print E-mail

Period: April - November, 2006

Preparation of two pre-feasibility studies under the UNDP funded Golema Reka river restoration project in the Prespa region, in southwest Macedonia . The studies provided assessment of environmental impacts to the GR River from solid waste and wastewater pollution, and land use agricultural activities.
